Weaponized Autism - interview
Who are Weaponized Autism?
A metal band from Leamington Spa comprised of 3 musicians: Avery, Jake and Jo.
How did you form?
We enjoyed playing music together, so we thought let’s make a band out of it. We needed a bass player and Lamp happens to have a bass player working for them, so we included Jo and started writing music.
What inspired the name?
Both having autism we found it funny to say out loud and we thought it would catch people’s attention.
What inspired you to write this track?
Jettatura means evil eye and we needed a metal sounding name for our metal song. The guitarist made some riffs and we started jamming and putting it all together and then we made the track. We don’t really get inspired by other bands. It usually spawns from jamming and creating riffs and beats ourselves and then piecing it all together like a puzzle.
What are your favourite genres of music?
We started a metal band because we’re all into Metal Core and Death Core.
Who are your greatest influences musically?
Jay Weinberg from Slipknot, he’s my favourite drummer and he’s the one who inspires me the most due to the way he plays drums so passionately and aggressively.
What’s Weaponized Autism’s performance style?
Energetic and loud - oppressively loud. We like to play fast and aggressively because we enjoy the adrenaline boost we get in front of a crowd.
What would you like for the future of Weaponized Autism?
We’d like to perform more gigs live when the pandemic is culled enough to allow for gigs to happen again. I’d like a full band with a full time bassist, rhythm guitarist and vocalist.
